IN NATIONAL NEWS,
FBI makes arrest in January 6th pipe bomb case nearly 5 years after the investigation opened. The arrest is the first time that investigators have settled on a subject in the long case. The suspect placed multiple pipe bombs on the evening of January 5th, 2021 near the offices of both parties. Although the bombs were safely diffused, the FBI said that if they had gone off many people could have been killed. In the years since the event, investigators have turned to the public offering a reward of half a million dollars for information on the suspect. The FBI still has not determined if there is a clear connection between this and the rioting the next day. Without any evidence, many right wing lawmakers circulated conspiracy theories about the bombs. Dan Bongino, the current FBI deputy director, floated the possibility last year that the act was an inside job and involved a massive cover-up.
IN INTERNATIONAL NEWS,
Russian President Vladimir Putin says that Russia will take a region of Ukraine by force or Ukrainian forces will back out. The biggest standoff between the two countries has been land and often they have struggled with a deal because of it. Recently the Donbas region of Ukraine has been in the news often, with Putin saying today that Russia will take it by force or not. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ruled out ceding territory, whether held by Russia or not. The comments from Putin also come after US President Trump said he believed Russia would like to end the war. Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff, who led the US side of the talks, is due to meet Ukraine's negotiators in Florida. Russian forces now control some 85% of the Donbas. The original iteration of the US peace plan proposed to hand over areas of the Donbas still under Ukrainian control to the de facto control of Putin. Putin also said that there are parts of the US proposed peace plan that he can not agree with. It is unknown how the two sides will move forward.

The union said that Actus is not currently honoring the deal and workers at the facility rejected the company's final offer.
